Trump criticized NATO allies for unwillingness to help in the situation with Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the stance of a number of countries that refuse to provide support despite decades of American protection.
"I think we have one or two countries that won't do it, even though we've been defending them for about 40 years, spending tens of billions of dollars. I will report this to the House of Representatives and the Senate and ask: why are we defending countries that don't defend us? I always felt that was a weak point of NATO. We were going to defend them, but I always said: when the need arises, they won't defend us. Right now is exactly such a need. And if we need their minesweeper boats or any equipment they have, they should come running to help us, because we've been helping them for years," he said, speaking at the White House at a meeting of the board of governors of the Washington John F. Kennedy and Donald Trump Center for the Performing Arts.
According to the American president, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will soon name the countries that will agree to help Washington.
