The volume of transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline during the period of SOCAR's operatorship has been announced

During the period from August 1, 2021, to August 1, 2026, a total of 130.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas was pumped through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline (South Caucasus Pipeline).

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), today marks the fifth anniversary of SOCAR's operatorship of the South Caucasus Pipeline.

In the first half of the current year, the volume of gas transported along the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum route amounted to 11.442 billion cubic meters, which exceeds the figure for the same period of 2025 by 1.84%.

It should be noted that SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations LLC has been performing the functions of commercial operator of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline since 2015, and in 2021 also assumed the role of technical operator.

The South Caucasus Pipeline ensures the delivery of gas extracted at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to consumers in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. The pipeline was launched at the end of 2006 as part of the first stage of Shah Deniz development. Starting from the summer of 2018, gas produced during the second stage of Shah Deniz field development began flowing through the expanded South Caucasus Pipeline to Turkey — into the TANAP gas transmission system.
