The US military struck the province of West Azerbaijan
A missile strike has been recorded in the Iranian province of West Azerbaijan, located in the northwest of the country. Hamed Safari, who heads the region's crisis management department, reported that the projectile hit an uninhabited area. No reports of casualties or injuries had been received at the time of publication.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the Iranian state broadcasting company later released information that the attack was carried out by the United States. The target of the strike was the city of Piranshahr, located in the same province.
The latest escalation of the American-Iranian conflict began on July 8. The U.S. Armed Forces, for the first time since the signing of the memorandum between Washington and Tehran, carried out several series of strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic, allegedly in response to an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
On the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire with Iran. In retaliatory actions, Tehran began striking U.S. Middle Eastern facilities located in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. On July 24, the sides ceased the exchange of strikes.
