The goal scored by Cape Verde defender Sidney Cabral against the Argentine team has been named the most beautiful goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As Report informs, this was announced in a statement on the website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
In the round of 16 of the tournament, Cape Verde lost to Argentina 2:3 in extra time. In the 103rd minute, Cabral scored his team's second goal, leveling the score in the match.
The African footballer's goal beat out the goals of Eldor Shomurodov (Uzbekistan national team) and Wilson Isidor (Haiti national team), who finished second and third respectively, in the voting.
It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup was held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Spain became the champion, defeating Argentina 1:0 in the final.
