Omega-3 fatty acids. They stimulate the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and reduce inflammation in the intestines.
Butyric acid. Its elevated level positively affects gut bacteria, as it stimulates the growth of beneficial bacteria and suppresses the growth of harmful ones. Butyric acid also improves digestion.
Antioxidants. Walnuts are rich in antioxidant compounds that reduce inflammation and protect the digestive tract. According to a review of 33 studies, consuming walnuts as part of a healthy diet reduces the risk of developing diseases, including colorectal cancer.
