Important meeting in Baku: European Union expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan
A one-on-one meeting was held in Baku between President Ilham Aliyev and the President of the European Council António Costa, who arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit. Following the negotiations, the leaders made statements to the press.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that relations between Azerbaijan and the EU are currently at an active stage of development. The head of state emphasized the important role of our country in ensuring Europe's energy security, pointing out that Azerbaijan supplies natural gas to 10 EU member states and to 16 European countries in total. The President also stated that Azerbaijan became the first country to begin exporting gas to EU states via pipelines.
The head of state also touched upon the topic of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, emphasizing that the peaceful situation in the region contributes to the expansion of opportunities for trade and investment.
In turn, António Costa expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended and voiced his satisfaction with the visit to Baku. The President of the European Council also commented on the strike on the Nakhchivan airport carried out by Iran. He noted the inadmissibility of such actions against the civilian population and pointed out that EU countries express solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan.
It should be recalled that this is António Costa's first official visit to Azerbaijan in his capacity as President of the European Council.
