During the official dinner, Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with António Costa in an extended format

On March 11, during an official luncheon, a meeting took place between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Council António Costa in an extended format.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to AZERTAC, during the conversation, satisfaction was expressed with the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union in various spheres. The successful conduct of dialogue was noted, particularly on issues of security, energy, and transport. The importance of discussions held within the framework of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor, which took place in Azerbaijan some time ago, was emphasized.

Azerbaijan's contribution as a reliable partner in ensuring Europe's energy security was particularly noted, and it was emphasized that gas exports to 10 European countries constitute an integral part of this contribution.

Issues of transport, logistics, and connectivity were also discussed at the meeting, and it was noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the region in these matters. The significance of the TRIPP project as an integral part of the Middle Corridor was emphasized. The European Union's participation in the restoration and reconstruction of the Nakhchivan railway line, which is a continuation of this project, was noted.

Prospects for expanding trade ties between Azerbaijan and the European Union based on the principles of preferential tariffs were discussed.

The successes achieved in the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia were particularly noted, and it was emphasized that the European Union is always ready to contribute to its advancement.

During the conversation, an exchange of views also took place on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union in the sphere of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the creation of data centers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint press statement by President Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Council António Costa was adopted.
