The number of virtual cards in Azerbaijan as of January 1 of the current year reached 2.3 million units, which is 24.6% higher compared to the same date in 2025.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), the share of virtual cards in the total volume of payment cards in circulation as of the reporting date amounted to 10.7%.

By the end of last year, the total number of payment cards in circulation reached 22 million units, with 91.6% of them (excluding virtual ones) equipped with contactless payment functionality. Compared to the end of 2024, this figure increased by 10.5%.

Of the total number of cards, 90.6% (19.9 million units) were debit cards, while the remaining 9.4% (2.1 million units) were credit cards.

The total volume of transactions carried out using payment cards within the country in 2025 increased by 19.3% compared to the previous year and amounted to 146.7 billion manats. At the same time, the volume of non-cash payments grew by 25.6%, reaching 99.1 billion manats.
