Scientists named only two countries in the world capable of surviving a nuclear war
Scientists have named only two countries in the world capable of surviving a nuclear war — in their opinion, these are Australia and New Zealand.
This is reported by the Mirror.
Specialists modeled a potential launch of 12,000 nuclear warheads, which would lead to catastrophic consequences. According to their calculations, less than half of the world's population — about three billion people — would survive the initial blasts. However, the survivors would then face a subsequent nuclear winter, which would prove to be a greater threat than the explosions themselves.
Nuclear apocalypse scenario expert Annie Jacobsen noted that soot and ash would block out the sun and cause cooling lasting decades. Many territories would become unsuitable for agriculture, leading to mass famine.
Scientists believe that Australia and New Zealand possess a unique set of factors that would allow them to survive a nuclear war. These include their remoteness from the major nuclear powers, the small number of targets for strikes, and the ability to grow food even under conditions of sharp cooling.
