Container ship Safeen Prestige sank in the Strait of Hormuz
The Malta-flagged container ship Safeen Prestige has sunk in the Strait of Hormuz.
As reported by TASS, the corresponding notification was issued by maritime traffic operators in the region.
According to Reuters, the same vessel reported on March 4, 2026, that it had been struck by an unknown projectile just above the waterline, which caused a fire in the engine room.
"The container ship Safeen Prestige has sunk approximately 6.5 nautical miles northeast of Ras Mahrouk. There are traces of an oil spill on the surface. Mariners are advised to exercise caution," the operators' statement read.
