An Azerbaijani woman from Tabriz gave a worthy response to the Iranian minister: In what language will they study?
The invitation by the Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), Hossein Simaei-Sarraf, for Azerbaijani girls to come to his country, directed against the secular education rules in Azerbaijan, did not go unanswered by Azerbaijanis living in Tabriz.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, an Azerbaijani girl from Tabriz responded to the minister's provocative video address with extremely precise and compelling arguments.
In response to the attempt to create regional tensions under the pretext of education and to manipulate the situation by shifting the issue of Azerbaijan's secular school uniform into a religious context, she stated:
"In what language will Azerbaijani girls receive their education here? For 100 years, we Azerbaijanis of Iran have been deprived of the right to study in our native language. Now you are inviting Azerbaijani women from the other side (of the Araz) to study here – tell me, in what language will they receive their education? Are you going to create a school or a madrasa for them with instruction in the Turkic language?"
The Azerbaijani woman also posed a concise yet spot-on question. "If creating such schools is possible, then why has such a step never been taken for the Azerbaijanis living in Iran itself over all these years?" she reasonably noted.
