The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan warned about fraud on WhatsApp
In recent days, there has been an increase in cases of one-time confirmation codes (OTP) being sent with the purpose of activating citizens' WhatsApp accounts on other devices.
This was reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that such cases may be related to attempted cyberattacks aimed at hijacking user accounts.
"The General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan urges citizens to pay close attention to the security of their personal accounts, activate the two-step authentication feature, use complex and unique PIN codes, and under no circumstances share one-time confirmation codes with third parties. Remember - your digital security begins with the protection of personal data!" the statement from the supervisory authority reads.
