Infantino: Iran will play at the World Cup in the USA

The Iran national football team will compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

As reported by sport24.ru, this was announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the FIFA Congress in Vancouver (Canada).

"Of course, the Iranian national team will play in the USA. The reason is very simple. We must unite and establish contact between people. FIFA unites the world. We must always remember a positive attitude," Infantino said.

It should be recalled that at the end of February, the USA and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. A temporary ceasefire is currently in effect between the countries.

The Iran national team is scheduled to play all of its group stage matches at the 2026 World Cup (against New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt) on US territory. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19.
