In an interview with Gazeta.ru, gastroenterologist from the "SberHealth" platform Darya Utyumova explained that this juicy berry can be dangerous for health.
According to the specialist, despite its pleasant taste and aroma, grapes are contraindicated for people with chronic diseases. The main threat is the high content of fast carbohydrates: 100 grams of grapes contain up to 16 grams of sugar. Because of this, they are extremely undesirable for those suffering from diabetes or liver diseases.
However, sugar is not the only reason for caution. Grapes are also considered a strong allergen due to high levels of ascorbic acid. And when consumed excessively, they can contribute to weight gain.
Acid stress for the stomach
Grapes are especially dangerous for people with gastrointestinal problems. They stimulate the production of gastric juice, which can aggravate the course of peptic ulcer disease of the stomach or duodenum during periods of exacerbation.
Darya Utyumova emphasized that it's important to consider individual characteristics of the body. Even products considered healthy require a reasonable approach. Before including grapes in your daily diet, it's worth consulting with a doctor - serious health risks may be hiding behind the sweet taste.
