Historical truths do not change: Caucasian Albania is unequivocally the ancient heritage of Azerbaijan

No matter how hard the Armenians try, no matter how much effort they put into falsifying history, Caucasian Albania is the historical heritage of Azerbaijan.

This was stated in a comment for Oxu.Az by Milli Majlis deputy and member of the parliamentary committee on public associations and religious institutions Jeyhun Mammadov.

He noted that one of the ancient states occupying a special place in the history of Azerbaijan is Caucasian Albania.

"Regardless of who claims what, this state belonged to Azerbaijanis and was created on our territory. It had two capitals - the cities of Gabala and Barda. Today, numerous monuments from the era of Caucasian Albania are preserved in Azerbaijan. They are an integral part of our country's history.

Caucasian Albania occupies a special place and carries significant weight in the history of Azerbaijan. That is, this is an unequivocally accepted, emphasized, and discussed matter. From time to time, the Armenians attempted to appropriate various historical monuments and engage in the falsification of history, but they were unable to achieve their desired results.

Unfortunately, such attempts are periodically made by the Armenian side. Official Baku has repeatedly expressed a sharp reaction to this issue, yet the Armenians continue to carry out provocations.

It should be particularly emphasized that the Albanian diocese, unfortunately, was subjected to pressure from tsarist Russia during various periods as well," the deputy added.

J. Mammadov recalled that in past centuries, various decisions were made with the aim of abolishing the diocese.

"Here we must particularly note the role of the Armenians. In 1836, they achieved their goal, and by a decision of the Synod, the diocese was abolished. After that, all the monuments belonging to it were transferred to the Armenian Church.

The role of the Armenians in this matter was very significant. From this period, the Armenians began carrying out this falsification. We witnessed them taking various steps in this direction. I believe that this falsification had no role or influence, has none now, and will have none in the future either.

It should be added that a peace process is underway between Azerbaijan and Armenia, various steps are being taken, so the Armenians must put an end to falsification and stop this propaganda," the parliamentarian emphasized.
