Russia and Turkey discussed the situation in the South Caucasus and around Ukraine

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and the Russian Federation discussed the situation in the South Caucasus and the development of cooperation in Central Asia (CA), as well as the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

This was stated in a press release by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on the ministry's website.

The Turkish side was represented in the consultations by the Head of the Main Directorate for Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, Ambassador Mehmet Samsar, and the Russian side by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Galuzin.

"The inadmissibility of introducing from outside any initiatives that would create new dividing lines in CA and the South Caucasus was noted. In this context, the parties emphasized their interest in continuing the steady work of the '3+3' Regional Cooperation Platform (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia plus Russia, Iran, Turkey) as a promising mechanism for strengthening stability and security based on the principle of 'regional responsibility,'" the ministry's statement said.
