Marco Rubio: Iran has agreed for the first time to discuss aspects of its nuclear program
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested progress could be made on reaching agreements with Iran in the coming days. He made the corresponding statement at hearings before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. Congress.
This was reported by TASS.
"We are currently negotiating," Rubio stated, expressing regret that contacts between U.S. and Iranian representatives require the involvement of intermediaries.
"There are prospects before us. It could happen today, it could happen tomorrow, or next week," the U.S. Secretary of State noted, adding that Iran "has for the first time agreed to discuss aspects of its nuclear program."
At the same time, he stated that the negotiations between the two sides "do not guarantee the conclusion of a deal that will satisfy the Senate and the American people."
