The official launch of BTK took place in Georgia

The Baku–Tbilisi–Kars (BTK) railway line has been fully commissioned following modernization works.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, officials jointly pressed a symbolic button, announcing the commissioning of the railway at a new stage.

The official opening ceremony of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars (BTK) railway line is taking place at the Akhalkalaki Railway and Logistics Complex in Georgia.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, high-ranking officials from Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, as well as heads of railway and port administrations, are participating in the ceremony.

According to the event program, speeches will be delivered by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev, and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

Following the speeches, the symbolic commissioning of the BTK will take place and a video about the project will be shown.

BTK is a strategic transport project implemented by Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. After the modernization of the Georgian section, its capacity has been increased from 1 million to 5 million tons per year.

According to experts' estimates, the full launch of the line will expand the capabilities of the Middle Corridor, increase freight volumes from China and Central Asia to Europe, and strengthen the transit potential of the region.
