Orthodox believers celebrate Easter in Ganja
Orthodox believers in the western region of Azerbaijan celebrate Easter.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, believers gathered at the Alexander Nevsky Church in Ganja since the night, where services dedicated to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ are being held.
During the service, candles are lit, prayers are read, and religious rituals are performed. The celebration is attended not only by local residents — Christians from other cities also come to Ganja.
According to tradition, on Thursday believers bake Easter cakes, on Saturday they bring them to the church for blessing, and on the night before Sunday they perform a procession of the cross, symbolizing the arrival of Easter.
It should be noted that more than 200 Orthodox families live in Ganja. The Alexander Nevsky Church, built in 1887, is the only Orthodox church in the western region of the country.
