Anar Veliyev: We call on countries to take clear commitments on housing development
The right to housing must be recognized as a human right and defined as a priority.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Associate Professor at ADA University, urban planning specialist Anar Veliyev at the closing ceremony of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, the global housing crisis is reaching a critical point: "This crisis is not accidental but is the result of deep structural, systemic, and governance problems. Safe, accessible, and affordable housing is an integral part of our shared future and forms a unified system together with public spaces, schools, healthcare, and other services."
Veliyev noted that the next decade must become a "decade of action" to accelerate the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and measure progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: "We call on countries to make clear commitments, document successful programs and projects, and share their implementation experiences."
