Cardiologist recommended adding one product to breakfast
Cardiologist Sara Alexander recommended including avocado in the morning diet, as this fruit can have a beneficial effect on heart function and vascular health.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing Daily Mirror, the specialist drew attention to research findings suggesting that regular consumption of avocado is associated with a reduced risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. In particular, people who ate at least two servings of the product per week were less frequently diagnosed with heart problems, including coronary heart disease.
According to Alexander, one of the main advantages of avocado is the presence of plant sterols. These compounds help lower "bad" cholesterol levels in the blood, which contributes to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, the fruit contains antioxidants, vitamin E, and a number of other beneficial substances that support blood vessel health.
The expert also emphasized the high dietary fiber content in avocado. Half of the fruit can provide approximately a quarter of the body's daily fiber requirement. Another important benefit of the product, the doctor noted, is its high potassium content — this mineral is found in avocado in even greater amounts than in bananas. Potassium helps the body more effectively cope with the consequences of excessive salt intake and contributes to maintaining normal blood pressure levels.
Earlier, dietitian Tara Schmidt recommended that older women include beans and soy in their diet more often. According to the specialist, these products contain valuable micronutrients and help maintain blood pressure levels within normal range.
