Wrestler Omar Salmanov won the first medal for Azerbaijan at the World Championship

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Omar Salmanov won a bronze medal at the U-17 World Championship in Baku.

As Report informs, the athlete, competing in the weight category up to 48 kg, defeated his Georgian opponent Giorgi Chkhikvadze 7:1 in the bronze medal match, bringing Azerbaijan its first medal of the tournament.

It should be noted that the competitions are being held at the National Gymnastics Arena. Around 700 young wrestlers from more than 60 countries are participating in the World Championship. Azerbaijan is represented by 29 athletes.
