MEDIA: The activities of Iranian Səhər and Mehr in Azerbaijan have been declared illegal
The activities of the Iranian television channel Səhər and the Mehr news agency, as well as the representatives of these entities in Azerbaijan, are considered illegal.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this is stated in the statement of the Media Development Agency (MEDİA) regarding the inclusion of the state television channel AzTV in the list of "hostile media structures" by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence.
It is noted that Azerbaijan, while remaining committed to protecting the professional activities of journalists, also ensures the application of the principle of reciprocity:
"Thus, according to Article 11.4 of the Law 'On Media,' in the event that other states impose special restrictions on the professional activities of journalists included in the media registry, similar restrictions may be imposed in Azerbaijan against journalists of the state that applied such restrictions."
MEDİA states that, taking into account the requirements of the relevant article and the principle of reciprocity, the activities of media entities acting contrary to the national interests of Azerbaijan, conducting propaganda against the sovereignty, constitutional order, territorial integrity, and national security of the country — the Səhər television channel and the Mehr news agency, as well as the representatives of these entities on the territory of Azerbaijan — are considered illegal.
