Expert: Europe's Silence on Election Violations in Armenia Raises Questions

Despite numerous legislative violations recorded during the electoral process in Armenia, the reaction of European structures to these facts attracts particular attention.

Political analyst Aziz Alibeyli stated this in a comment to BAKU.WS.

According to him, during the elections, attempts at repeated voting, suspension of voting on social media and at a number of polling stations, as well as cases of covert campaigning were recorded.

The political analyst noted that European institutions provided virtually no effective response to the questions raised in connection with these facts.

Alibeyli pointed out that a total of 125 complaints were filed regarding the electoral process. These complaints contain allegations of illegal campaigning, as well as covert propaganda using special signs by individuals close to the authorities.

According to his information, there were reports that the organization of a number of polling stations was set up in a way that could influence the voters' expression of will. In addition, numerous violations related to voting techniques and procedures were recorded.

The political analyst believes that, despite all these facts, European Parliament observers assess the recorded violations differently and do not demonstrate an adequate attitude toward them.

Alibeyli emphasized that to ensure the reliability and objectivity of international observation missions, it is extremely important to approach all violations in the electoral process with uniform criteria.
