Baku hub helped attract a historic $100 million grant for Somalia
40 countries worldwide have joined the Baku Hub established within the framework of COP29 to date.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elshad Iskenderov at the panel session "Peace-Positive Climate Impact Through Urban Solutions in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Areas" within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
"The Baku Hub has brought together the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Uganda, and the United Arab Emirates, acting as co-leaders of this initiative. 300 peacebuilding organizations, 40 states, as well as dozens of UN agencies, multilateral development banks, and climate funds have joined the platform. It was exclusively through negotiations at the Baku Hub platform that a $100 million grant from the Green Climate Fund was secured for Somalia - this happened for the first time in history," E. Iskenderov emphasized.
