Hikmet Hajiyev: Azerbaijan is restoring destroyed territories "from scratch" and even "from below zero"
About nine cities in Azerbaijan were practically completely destroyed, and more than 300 settlements and villages were seriously damaged as a result of the conflict with Armenia.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev at an event within the framework of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, the liberated territories are effectively being rebuilt from scratch, and in some cases "from below zero" due to extensive mine contamination.
"The presence of approximately 1.5 million mines and other explosive devices poses serious security risks. Therefore, large-scale demining operations are being conducted," Hikmet Hajiyev emphasized.
He noted that security issues and the creation of living conditions are of key importance in post-conflict reconstruction.
"In the process of restoring the liberated territories, opportunities to utilize international experience and expertise are also being explored," the Presidential Assistant stated.
