Anar Guliyev: Azerbaijan is carrying out one of the largest reconstructions in the region

Azerbaijan is carrying out one of the largest and most extensive reconstructions in the region.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev at an event within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

"Territories that were once subjected to destruction are being transformed into sustainable, inclusive and future-oriented urban and rural communities. For nearly 30 years, about 20% of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory was under occupation. During this period, hundreds of cities, towns and villages were destroyed. Critical infrastructure was demolished, cultural heritage monuments suffered irreparable damage, and more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven from their homes.

After the liberation of the territories from occupation in 2020, Azerbaijan entered a new phase aimed at reconstruction, reintegration and sustainable regional development. The scale of destruction in these territories was unprecedented."
