President Ilham Aliyev received the Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of China

On May 18, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Zhang Guoqing.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the guest first conveyed greetings from President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to the President of Azerbaijan. He noted that Xi Jinping considers President Ilham Aliyev a friend of China.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his greetings to Xi Jinping as well. President Ilham Aliyev stated that he highly values the fact that the President of the People's Republic of China calls him an eternal friend of China.

Zhang Guoqing noted that the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum is discussing pressing topics related to the global urbanization agenda, emphasizing that it is an honor for him to participate in an event to which his country attaches great importance. He congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on our country hosting such a prestigious event. The guest also said that the President of Azerbaijan's speech at the forum's opening ceremony was very substantive.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the congratulations.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that China's participation in this event with a high-level delegation is a sign of respect and friendship toward Azerbaijan.

Expressing satisfaction with the rapid expansion of Azerbaijani-Chinese ties, the guest recalled the meetings between the heads of state and said that bilateral relations have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

He expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan's resolute position on the issue of the Taiwan region of China, emphasizing that China also consistently supports the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Zhang Guoqing stated that China supports the development path chosen by Azerbaijan, which is based on the interests of the people.

President Ilham Aliyev fondly recalled his state visit to China and expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended. The head of state noted the importance of the document on comprehensive strategic partnership signed during that visit.

President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan, as a country that once suffered from separatism, condemns separatism in all its forms and manifestations. The head of state noted that our country not only did not recognize the illegal elections held in the Taiwan region of China but also became the only state to issue a statement condemning those elections. In this context, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan consistently supports the "One China" policy.

During the conversation, the successful development of Azerbaijani-Chinese relations covering various spheres was highlighted.

The ties between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China were noted, and it was emphasized that our countries cooperate successfully within the framework of international organizations. Satisfaction was expressed with the expansion of trade and economic ties between Azerbaijan and China, and an exchange of views took place on the prospects of cooperation in the political, economic, transit, transport, military-technical spheres, in the area of freight transportation, and other fields.
