Donald Trump: The US and Iran have agreed to end the war
The US and Iran have reached agreements on ending the war; the parties still need to sign the documents.
As reported by TASS, US President Donald Trump announced this while answering journalists' questions at the White House.
"We just reached a great deal to end the war with Iran," he said. "We will finish the paperwork. It should be done within a few days."
The American leader stated that the signing of the agreements could take place as early as this weekend.
"And the [Hormuz] Strait will officially open as soon as we sign. And that could be soon, very soon. Possibly this weekend, in Europe. I won't be there, but [Vice President] JD Vance will be there," Trump said.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing sources, that Iranian representatives this week transmitted to the US through Qatari intermediaries the latest version of the peace agreement. According to its reporting, Qatar, during meetings with Iranian representatives, helped work through several of the remaining contentious points in the document, including the framework for future negotiations on the nuclear program and the easing of sanctions pressure on Iran.
