Trump liked inflation
US President Donald Trump, commenting on the rise of inflation in the country to a record level in three years, stated that he "likes" it.
This was reported by Forbes.
Journalists asked the American leader whether he was concerned about the rise in consumer prices.
"No, I like it. I love inflation," Trump replied.
He added that prices would decrease once the war with Iran is over. As the US president noted, he had warned that the conflict with the Islamic Republic would affect the American economy.
In May, it was reported that the US national debt had increased by approximately $450 billion, reaching the $39.2 trillion mark, with the significant growth occurring against the backdrop of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
The main expenditure items were increased defense spending and payments on obligations, and for Americans, this poses the risk of higher mortgage rates and business loan rates. In the event of further growth of the US national debt, the global economy could face the risk of rising inflation and a slowdown in GDP growth.
