Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz until further notice
Iran's Persian Gulf Shipping Authority (PGSA) has reported that due to a new escalation between Iran and the United States, a decision has been made to close the Strait of Hormuz until further notice.
"Due to tensions caused by the actions of American forces in the region, and in accordance with the statement issued by the Iranian Armed Forces last night, the Strait of Hormuz will be closed until further notice," the agency's page on X states.
Tehran added that vessels that had already received permission to pass through the strait earlier "need to be patient" and await further instructions from the PGSA.
