From Monday to Friday, 93-year-old Cecilia Gomez invariably appears at the gym.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Insider, the New York resident has been training at Gold's Gym in Smithtown every day from 10:00 to 13:00 for many years.

"For me, it's almost like a religion - coming there," she admitted.

According to Cecilia, she is in excellent shape and feels like she's fifty.

"I can play soccer, basketball - do anything I want," said the 93-year-old athlete.

Gomez shared her secret to longevity: regular social interaction, healthy eating, and, most importantly, constant physical activity.

"When people say: 'I want to be like you,' I answer: 'Welcome to the gym'," she noted.

Cecilia proudly added that she is the oldest participant in her training groups.

Her daughter, 60-year-old Pat Schneider, said that her mother always loved competition - in her youth she was often chosen first for dodgeball. As a child, Cecilia spent a lot of time outdoors. Now her workouts include a combination of strength exercises and cardio: lifting dumbbells weighing up to 3 kg overhead and marching in place.

The publication specifies that Gomez participates in the SilverSneakers program, which is designed for people over 65 and is freely available to participants in relevant Medicare programs.

Recently, Cecilia received the "Member of the Year" award for her commitment to fitness.

In addition to sports, nutrition plays an important role in her longevity. The basis of the woman's diet is beans - she often eats them with rice and vegetables. The publication notes that this simple crop is a key product in the so-called "blue zones," regions with the highest life expectancy.

Gomez also loves other healthy foods: bananas, rich in potassium and supporting heart function, as well as oranges - a source of vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system.

According to her daughter, Cecilia loves socializing. She believes that this is the main factor in her health and energy.

"This is really the foundation of her longevity - she's always in contact with people. With grandchildren, great-grandchildren. She is never alone," Pat shared.

Mother and daughter live together, and on Sundays the whole family gathers for a common dinner. Cecilia's social activities include singing in the church choir and socializing with friends before and after workouts at the gym.
