Titanic passenger's letter, who was in love with Rose, put up for auction
Letter of the real "Jack Dawson" from the "Titanic" - a young man in love with a woman named Rose - has been put up for auction.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Daily Mail, the starting price is 66 thousand dollars.
21-year-old Ernest Tomlin was traveling in third class. Initially, he purchased a ticket for the steamship "Adriatic," but was transferred to the "Titanic." Tomlin departed from Southampton to the USA, where he planned to obtain a degree in religious studies.
On April 10th at 3:00 PM, he wrote a five-page letter to his parents. In it, the young man confessed that because of Rose, whom he was not destined to see again, he had cried for 24 hours. He also mentioned that it was difficult for him to part with his family. On April 15th, Tomlin died along with hundreds of other passengers during the shipwreck.
Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge noted: "In some ways, Ernest really resembles Leonardo DiCaprio's character Jack Dawson - he was also a third-class passenger, enjoyed gambling on the ship, and apparently was in love with a woman named Rose."
