The most expensive cup of coffee in history will be served at a cafe in Dubai
Dubai cafe Julith Coffee has started selling coffee costing 3600 dirhams per cup.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to The Independent, the drink is made from rare Geisha coffee beans of the Nido 7 line, grown on the slopes of the hard-to-reach Baru volcano in western Panama. Each batch, or microlot, yields only a few kilograms of beans per season.
Julith Coffee purchased 20 kilograms of Nido 7 at a Panamanian auction. There was fierce competition for the lot: hundreds of buyers placed bids, and after 549 rounds of bidding, the price reached 2.2 million dirhams (49 million rubles), which became a record cost for a batch of coffee in history.
The establishment plans to prepare about 400 cups of this beverage, one of which has already been reserved for the ruler of Dubai - Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
