A red-listed bird damaged the headlights of a passenger airplane during landing

A Superjet passenger aircraft collided with a rare white ptarmigan during its approach to landing in Novy Urengoy. As a result of the incident, the aircraft sustained damage but landed safely.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Telegram channel Shot, the plane was operating a flight from Ufa to Novy Urengoy. During landing, the bird struck the nose landing gear, damaging the landing and taxi lights, as well as the electrical connector of one of them.

It is noted that the malfunction of the lighting equipment could have reduced visibility for the pilots after touchdown. Despite the damage, the aircraft landed normally.

According to preliminary reports, none of the passengers were injured.
