Prince William has admitted that as a child he dreamed of becoming a police officer, and as a teenager he was passionate about music and even wanted to work as a DJ. His revelations sparked discussion online and once again raised the question of how much the heir to the British throne would like to live an ordinary life, choosing his own path independently.
As reported by BAKU.WS, Prince William shared his childhood and teenage dreams while appearing on The Graham Norton Show.
When asked who he would have liked to become if he were not a member of the royal family, the heir to the throne revealed that he once imagined himself as a police officer.
"I wanted to be a police officer. I thought I would have made a good police officer," admitted the son of King Charles III.
Host Graham Norton humorously noted that the prince's tall stature would have been well suited to the requirements of such a profession.
However, police service was not the only career William had dreamed of. As a teenager, he was passionate about music and even came up with a DJ alias — DJ Xara.
"I had a period when I wanted to be a DJ. It didn't really work out, though. I even came up with an alias — DJ Xara, with an X. It wasn't very good," the prince shared.
When asked whether he had performed at school parties, William answered in the negative, explaining that he never learned to work behind the DJ decks well enough.
Despite the lighthearted tone of the interview, the heir's admissions prompted speculation that behind his words there may be reflections on the lack of freedom in royal life. According to a source from palace circles, from birth William knew that his future was largely predetermined by his lineage and duties to the monarchy.
The insider believes that dreams of professions unrelated to the royal family may have served as a way for the prince to imagine a different life in which he would independently build a career and make his own decisions.
That said, William himself has not expressed any intention to step away from his royal duties. His remarks were made in a humorous context, and the speculation about a hidden desire to leave the monarchy is based on the source's comments rather than any direct admission by the prince.
