Minister: The salary reform has created a significant transparency effect in the labor market
The number of labor contracts in the non-oil and gas private sector of Azerbaijan has nearly doubled since 2019 and exceeded 1 million.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.az, this was announced by the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov during the discussion of the bill "On the state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026" at the plenary session of the Milli Mejlis.
According to him, the wage reform has created a significant transparency effect in the labor market:
"As a result of the exemption from income tax on wages up to 8,000 manats in the non-oil and gas private sector, from January 1, 2019 to November 1, 2025, the number of labor contracts in this sector increased by 481,400, exceeding 1 million. The sector's share in the total number of labor contracts increased from 38.5% to 54.2%".
