Doctor explained which abdominal pain may indicate cancer
Prolonged bowel irregularities, blood in stool, abdominal pain after eating, lumps, and sudden weight loss may be signs of bowel cancer.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing Daily Mirror, this was stated by British colorectal surgeon James Kinross, who works at Charing Cross Hospital.
According to the specialist, first and foremost, it is necessary to carefully monitor changes in bowel function. This refers to the frequency of bathroom visits, as well as the consistency, shape, and color of stool. The doctor noted that each person has their own physiological characteristics, so they may be the first to notice warning signs. Short-term disruptions are often associated with stress or changes in diet, however, if symptoms persist, an examination should be conducted as soon as possible.
The appearance of blood in stool should cause particular concern. According to the surgeon, such a symptom requires immediate consultation, as it may indicate serious pathologies, including malignant processes.
Additionally, reasons for visiting a doctor include chronic fatigue without obvious causes and unexplained weight loss. Kinross also recommended paying attention to the appearance of lumps in the abdominal area or other parts of the body, as well as persistent abdominal pain.
The physician clarified that with bowel cancer, pain often has a cramping nature, intensifies after eating, and may be accompanied by bloating.
In conclusion, the specialist emphasized that timely diagnosis significantly increases treatment effectiveness, therefore, when such signs appear, one should not delay seeking medical help.
