The reason why a person wakes up feeling unrested even after sleeping 8 hours has been revealed
Malocclusion can be one of the causes of snoring and breathing cessation during sleep, which often leads to chronic fatigue and deterioration in the quality of rest. This is warned by specialists in the fields of dentistry and sleep medicine.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Gazeta.Ru," the position of the jaw directly affects airway patency during sleep. According to Russian dentist Nodira Sarsadskikh, if the lower jaw is displaced backward or underdeveloped, the tongue assumes a deeper position, causing the airway passage to narrow. This can cause snoring and episodes of apnea — brief cessations of breathing.
Foreign experts note that an alarming sign is when a person sleeps enough hours but regularly wakes up tired and does not feel rested. Loud snoring is also identified among the common symptoms.
According to specialists, breathing disorders during sleep can also be associated with other factors — nasal congestion, age-related changes, lifestyle, and thyroid diseases.
For some patients, special dental mouth guards that hold the lower jaw in the correct position can help. However, for severe forms of apnea, the primary treatment method remains CPAP therapy. Medical professionals emphasize that if such a disorder is suspected, one should first consult a sleep specialist or an ENT doctor.
