An unusual sign of bowel cancer has been named

Constant alternation between constipation and diarrhea may not just be a temporary digestive disorder, but a signal of serious health problems, including diseases of the colon. Foreign specialists are warning about this.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to gastroenterologist Joseph Salhab, such symptoms are sometimes associated with so-called "overflow diarrhea." This condition develops with severe constipation, when dense masses block the intestine, and only liquid contents come out, creating a false sensation of ordinary diarrhea.

According to the doctor, in some cases the cause of such a disorder may be colon cancer. A tumor can partially block the intestinal lumen, hindering the normal movement of contents and causing a combination of constipation with episodes of loose stool.

The expert noted that symptoms accompanied by abdominal pain, bloating, blood in the stool, weight loss, anemia, or vomiting are considered particularly alarming. Medical professionals emphasize that such signs require prompt examination.

Specialists remind that colon cancer in its early stages often disguises itself as common gastrointestinal problems, which is why prolonged changes in bowel function are considered a serious reason for diagnostic evaluation.
