MEDIA: Russian resource "Tsargrad" spreads fake news about Azerbaijani-Turkish relations
In several foreign online news channels and segments of social networks, there are instances of disseminating disinformation of questionable origin that does not reflect reality, aimed at undermining the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Media Development Agency (MEDİA), preliminary investigations have established that the source of this campaign is the Russian-language internet resource tsargrad.tv ("Tsargrad").
"We strongly condemn and consider unacceptable such disinformation actions directed against our country, attempting to mislead public opinion through false and manipulative content and aimed at undermining the fraternal and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. We call on Azerbaijani and Turkish journalists, as well as media entities, to take a principled stance against such disinformation attempts, to refrain from spreading unverified information, and to act responsibly to protect the information environment," the statement emphasizes.
The Agency also appeals to the public of both countries not to trust fake messages and to be guided only by official statements from state structures.
The statement notes that MEDİA will continue effective cooperation with the Public Relations Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration to counter such phenomena and form a unified position.
