A meeting between Leyla Aliyeva and the Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology took place in Rome

On September 29, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva held a meeting with the Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology Raffaella Giuliani.

As reported by AZERTAC, Raffaella Giuliani noted that they welcomed the participation of the Azerbaijani delegation in the meeting with great joy. Speaking about the book "Bridge of Cultures" (Pontes Culturae), created as a symbol of joint partnership, she said that the foundation of this cooperation was laid by the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi. Expressing hope that these friendly relations would continue in the future, Raffaella Giuliani recalled that First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva always takes an interest in the work being carried out.

During the meeting, the possibilities of continuing the work on the restoration of catacombs and other new restoration projects were discussed. It was stated that the involvement of a greater number of students and specialists in these processes is envisaged in the future. At the same time, it was noted that the work of professional specialists in various churches located in Azerbaijan is desirable.

The role of Azerbaijan, a Muslim country, in the restoration of Christian heritage was highly appreciated. It was emphasized that this cooperation and, in particular, the joint activities in the field of catacomb restoration represent an important message for the entire world. This step is a vivid example of tolerance, peace, and intercultural dialogue.
