EU Council Working Group COEST delegation to visit Azerbaijan

A delegation of the EU Council's Working Party on Eastern Europe and Central Asia (COEST) plans to visit Azerbaijan following its visit to Armenia.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was communicated by Report's European bureau citing its own sources in European institutions.

According to the sources, the delegation's trip aims to discuss EU relations with Azerbaijan and regional issues and is part of the EU's regular dialogue and cooperation with partners in the region.

The day before, the COEST delegation visited Armenia, where it held meetings with representatives of the Armenian authorities. In particular, discussions covered the agenda of Armenia-EU relations, the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Strategic Partnership Agenda, cooperation in the field of security, and the development of transport connectivity.

The Armenian side also presented to the delegation the steps toward institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the opportunities for regional cooperation that have emerged in connection with the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus.

COEST prepares and coordinates the work of the EU Council on relations with the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, and also prepares the Council's positions on political issues related to these states.
