Important statement regarding the minimum wage in Azerbaijan

In 2025, a provision was introduced into the Labor Code of Azerbaijan requiring the minimum wage to be reviewed at least once a year. This creates the prerequisites for its increase in 2027.

Commenting on this issue for Oxu.Az, Milli Majlis deputy Vugar Bayramov recalled that the relevant amendments were approved by President Ilham Aliyev in February 2026.

According to him, the minimum wage will be reviewed before February 2027.

"This is in line with the amendments made to the Labor Code, which provide for a regular review of its amount. In recent years, as part of social policy, not only the minimum wage but also other social payments have been increased. Raising payments was one of the main directions of the five social packages implemented over the past six years.

It is expected that the increase will be factored into the state budget for 2027. The exact figures can be discussed after the budget package is submitted to parliament.

In January, pensions will also be indexed. The amount will be determined taking into account the growth of the average monthly wage in 2026. The state budget for 2027 allocates 44% of all expenditures to the social sector. This amounts to more than 17 billion manats," the deputy stated.

It should be noted that in Azerbaijan, the minimum monthly wage is 400 manats, and the minimum labor retirement pension is 320 manats.
