Leyla Aliyeva attended the presentation of the documentary film "Harmony" in Rome

On September 28, the presentation of the documentary film "Harmony" took place in Rome, the capital of Italy.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva participated in the event.

The general producer of the film, created in partnership with the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the Foundation for the Promotion of Spiritual Values, and the Baku Media Center, is the head of Baku Media Center Arzu Aliyeva.

Along with the Azerbaijani delegation, officials of the Holy See, representatives of the diplomatic corps and religious communities, and religious figures participated in the ceremony.

Before the event began, a photo stand was presented reflecting the rich religious and cultural heritage and multicultural values of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the presentation, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Holy See Ilgar Mukhtarov thanked everyone who contributed to the creation of the film.

"The documentary film 'Harmony' invites us to reflect on how diversity can enrich our worldview and bring people closer to one another. The film presented today tells the story of three young women belonging to different religious traditions but sharing one common homeland — Azerbaijan. Through their everyday lives, the film conveys a simple yet profound message: religious differences should not create distance between people," he noted.

Emphasizing that Islam, Christianity, and Judaism have deep roots in our country, the ambassador said: "Mosques, churches, and numerous synagogues are not merely monuments to this diversity. They are part of a living tradition of coexistence. This historical tradition is preserved and strengthened through consistent state policy based on respect for freedom of religion, protection of cultural and religious heritage, and support for interreligious dialogue."

The Head of the Chancellery of the Holy See's Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, Father Laurent Basanese, read to the guests an address from the Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Holy See, Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad. The address notes that the documentary film "Harmony" presents the experience of coexistence among representatives of various religious traditions in Azerbaijan in a context characterized by multiculturalism and mutual respect. It emphasizes that the very title of the film reminds us of an important point: "Harmony does not require us to erase our differences. On the contrary, it calls us to learn to live with these differences in a spirit of respect, dialogue, and fraternity."

"Interreligious dialogue cannot be limited to statements or official meetings alone. It also finds its reflection in the relationships, education, culture, and way of life of people of various faiths living side by side. Art and cinema can make a special contribution in this regard. They allow us to go beyond speeches about coexistence, to see the faces, hear the voices of people whose religious beliefs do not prevent them from meeting, respecting one another, and jointly contributing to society, and to learn about their concrete experiences," the address also states.

Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Ramin Mammadov noted that over the centuries, the Azerbaijani people, living at the crossroads of East and West, have naturally formed a culture of multiculturalism, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence, passing it from generation to generation. He stated that today, in all regions of Azerbaijan, representatives of various religions and peoples live and create in conditions of peace and tranquility.

Emphasizing that the documentary film "Harmony" is an important spiritual message sent from Azerbaijani soil to all of humanity, the committee chairman said: "The film, shot in various holy places and regions of our country, reflects the authentic reality of Azerbaijan through the everyday life, family values, and unbreakable friendship of three women belonging to different religions."
