Russian actor Roman Popov has died at the age of 39. This was reported by the Telegram channel 112, citing a source.
As BAKU.WS reports, according to the Telegram channel SHOT, the cause of death was a recurrence of brain cancer.
The artist had been battling cancer for many years. In 2018, he was diagnosed with grade three astrocytoma, after which Popov underwent a complex operation and received therapy until 2021, when the disease went into remission.
However, in June 2025, the actor announced that the cancer had returned in a more aggressive form, causing him to partially lose his vision.
Roman Popov was born on February 9, 1985, in Konotop (Ukraine). He spent his childhood in Yoshkar-Ola, where he graduated from school and enrolled in the pedagogical university's psychology department. It was there that he first took the stage as part of a student KVN team.
In 2003, Popov's family moved to Sochi. There he continued to develop himself in the comedy genre and met showman Oganes Grigoryan. Together they created the duo "20:14. Sochi City," and in 2013 they became residents of Comedy Club.
The actor's filmography includes almost 40 works, among which are "New Year's Mayhem," "Girls Are Different," "Nerd and Superwoman," and others.
