Mobile internet shutdown planned in Moscow on May 5, 7, and 9.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this is according to the newspaper Kommersant citing a source.

According to the newspaper, the internet shutdowns, which will take place during public holidays in Russia, are explained by security concerns.

"There will be restrictions, but their scale is not yet clear," the newspaper quotes the source as saying.

According to the source, the shutdowns on the 7th will be related to the Victory Parade rehearsal, and on May 9 — in connection with the parade itself.

It is expected that the restrictions will apply not only in central Moscow but also within the MKAD (Moscow Ring Road).

The newspaper recalls that in 2025, mobile internet shutdowns were also observed in Moscow ahead of May 9. In early March 2026, mobile internet was shut down in the Russian capital for more than a week and a half due to "external restrictions for security reasons." Then "white lists" of accessible websites were enabled in Moscow. The mobile internet restrictions were lifted on March 24.
