British woman Zara Lachlan became the youngest person in history to make a solo journey on a rowing boat from Europe to South America, covering 7000 km across the Atlantic Ocean, reports UPI.

For this achievement, she was included in the Guinness Book of Records in three categories at once.

The 21-year-old Lachlan started from Lagos, Portugal, on her boat and reached the shores of Cayenne, the capital of French Guiana, in 97 days, 10 hours and 20 minutes. Thus, she became the first woman to cross the Atlantic by rowing from continent to continent, as well as the youngest female athlete and the youngest person to complete such a solo voyage.

During the journey, Zara rowed at least 17 hours a day and slept in fragments no longer than 90 minutes at a time. Despite the harsh conditions, she stated that she expected to feel much more fear before the challenge.

"This is not for everyone, but I am young and I know that I can afford so little sleep," Zara shared her impressions.
