President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the participants of the international scientific-practical conference "Stages of Audit Development: The Path from Compliance to Strategic Partnership and Trust."

"Dear conference participants!

I cordially welcome you to the international scientific-practical conference held in Baku on the topic "Stages of Audit Development: The Path from Compliance to Strategic Partnership and Trust," dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The formation and development of the modern institution of audit within the framework of large-scale reforms aimed at the progress of the independent Azerbaijani state and the strengthening of its economic power have acquired special significance. The adoption of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Audit Service" was an important manifestation of the high importance that National Leader Heydar Aliyev attached to the principles of democratic governance and the formation of institutional foundations of a market economy, a far-sighted and purposeful state policy serving to ensure financial discipline, transparency, and accountability in the country. The Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan, established in accordance with this Law, has carried out extremely important and necessary work over the past period to strengthen the institutional foundations of an independent audit system in the country, train professional personnel in the field of audit, develop an environment of transparency and accountability, and form a modern audit model consistent with advanced international practice. As a result, the range of audit services has significantly expanded, and the role of the audit institution in ensuring the reliability of financial reporting, increasing transparency, strengthening the fight against corruption, and reducing the shadow economy has grown.

The significance of the international conference organized on the occasion of the anniversary of the Chamber of Auditors should be particularly noted in terms of discussing important issues related to the scientific-practical analysis of the development path of the audit profession in our country over the past thirty years, the improvement of the regulatory framework for audit activities, the strengthening of the institution of professional self-governance, the development of quality control mechanisms, and the application of international auditing standards.

At the same time, the discussion within the conference of new directions in the development of audit activities in the context of digital transformation, the integration of big data analytics and artificial intelligence technologies into the audit process, the expansion of the role of audit as an institution that goes beyond the traditional compliance function to ensure strategic partnership and create value, as well as the strengthening of the principles of professional ethics and public trust, is of particular importance from the standpoint of contemporary requirements.

In the current conditions of rapid digitalization of the global economy and large-scale technological transformation, one of the important tasks facing every country is bringing audit activities to a new qualitative level.
