Kelbadjar hosted another Honey Festival
On September 12, the next Honey Festival was held in the Kalbajar district on the initiative of Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva.
The event was organized by IDEA jointly with the Special Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kalbajar district, the Ministry of Agriculture, the "Agrarian Procurement and Supply" OJSC, and the Beekeepers Association of Azerbaijan.
The festival was attended by Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, Special Envoy of the President of Azerbaijan Elchin Amirbayov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kalbajar district Bashir Hajiyev, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, representatives of the diplomatic corps, government agencies, and local residents.
Before the festival began, the delegation familiarized themselves with the construction and restoration work in the district. Bashir Hajiyev informed representatives of the diplomatic corps about the creation of modern infrastructure, the restoration of settlements, and the return of residents to Kalbajar.
The event began with the performance of the State Anthem and a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs.
The main purpose of the festival is to promote Azerbaijani honey, support local beekeepers, expand opportunities for products to enter domestic and foreign markets, as well as promote the tourism and agricultural potential of Kalbajar.
The festival was attended by 34 beekeepers from the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, as well as other regions of the country. Participants of the "Young Beekeeper" project, implemented by IDEA to support ecological entrepreneurship among youth, also presented their products.
Visitors were presented with various types of honey and other beekeeping products, as well as modern technologies used in this field.
Bashir Hajiyev noted that beekeeping is one of the traditional economic sectors of Kalbajar and continues to develop actively. According to him, the festival can become a tradition and contribute to promoting the agricultural, tourism, and economic potential of the district.
Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov reported that in 2026, permission for seasonal migration to the territory of the Kalbajar district was granted for 148,308 bee colonies belonging to 3,396 farmers.
According to him, the development of the industry should contribute to improving the quality and competitiveness of local products, as well as strengthening the position of Azerbaijani honey in domestic and international markets.
